Welcome to TacticalVolley! This beginner-friendly tutorial will get you up and running in just 15 minutes. We'll cover everything from account setup to your first match.

Before You Start

What You'll Need
  • A device with internet connection (phone, tablet, or computer)
  • Basic knowledge of volleyball positions and rules
  • Your team roster with player names and positions
  • About 15 minutes of uninterrupted time

Setup Steps

Create Your Account

Sign up for TacticalVolley and choose your subscription plan
  • Visit app.tacticalvolley.com
  • Sign up with email or Google account
  • Choose between Free, Premium, or Club plans
  • Complete your profile setup

Create Your First Team
5 minutes
Set up your team roster with player information
  • Click 'Create New Team' on your dashboard
  • Enter team name and optional team photo
  • Add team members with names and positions
  • Assign jersey numbers and primary positions

Configure Match Settings

Set up your preferred match parameters
  • Choose points per set (default: 25)
  • Set tiebreak points (default: 15)
  • Select sets to win (default: 2)
  • Choose entry mode (Simple recommended for beginners)

Start Your First Match

Create and begin recording your first match
  • Click 'New Match' from your team dashboard
  • Enter opponent name and match details
  • Select players for the match
  • Set up initial court positions

Understanding Volleyball Positions

Before adding players to your team, it's helpful to understand the different positions and their roles on the court.

Outside Hitter (OH)
Primary attackers on the left side of the court

Responsibilities:

  • Attacking from left side
  • Receiving serves
  • Defending back row
Usually #1-6
Middle Blocker (MB)
Central net players, blocking specialists

Responsibilities:

  • Blocking at the net
  • Quick attacks in middle
  • Defending short balls
Usually #7-12
Opposite Hitter (OPP)
Right-side attackers, often second setter

Responsibilities:

  • Attacking from right side
  • Backup setting
  • Blocking
Usually #13-18
Setter (S)
Playmaker who distributes the ball to attackers

Responsibilities:

  • Setting the ball
  • Running the offense
  • Defending
Usually #1 or #6
Libero (L)
Defensive specialist with special substitution rules

Responsibilities:

  • Receiving serves
  • Digging attacks
  • Defensive specialist
Different colored jersey

Beginner Tips

Start with Simple Mode

Simple Mode is perfect for beginners. It focuses on the essential actions and is much faster to learn.

Use Demo Data

Practice with demo matches before recording real games. This helps you learn the interface without pressure.

Don't Overthink Ratings

Start with basic good/bad ratings. You can always refine your rating skills as you become more experienced.
